TL DR: Don't get the macOS app if you have 2FA enabled on your email account. But in the mean time, I'm pretty frustrated and disappointed by the level of support I've gotten from the Canary Mail developers and Apple. So I am hoping they'll eventually fix the issue on macOS. Again, I'll leave that up to you to decide if you agree with Apple or not.Ĭanary Mail for iOS works perfectly, with 2FA enabled. After talking to Apple, they've also refused a refund because they don't see this as a technical issue preventing me from having the app. Instead of any reassurances that they would fix the issue, I was told to remove a security layer (2FA) from my email account. But since I had the macOS app, I've not had a full working app that I paid for. You can see how much the app costs and make your own decisions if the upgrade is worth it. Also, the AI features just don’t work on any. But I’ve stopped using it anyway, because it feels sluggish compared to Mail and given how often i use e-mail, that is a big deal. Which they're charging an upgrade fee for Version 2 users. I like the ability to pin important e-mails, and it has a few niceties like making file attachements easily available. Nov 9th, 2019, they've released a brand new Version 3. I purchased the Version 2 of the macOS app on Oct 30th, 2019. I was also told that because Canary Mail provides encryption, 2FA is not necessary.Īs most on here are privacy and security aware, this is a terrible idea. The solution I've been told is to disable 2FA on my email account. After about 2-3 days of back and forth, turns out the issue is my Gmail account has 2FA enabled. After sending the console log (via Gmail's web UI), and some back and forth on twitter, turns out the email provided in the console log doesn't get checked or read often? So I go to their support section and explain my issue. There's an Email button that allows you to send the console log to the Developers (so useful /s). In the app, under Help there's a Console Log option that shows you all the different network activity, and there's a bunch of errors whenever I try to send an email. I've not been able to send emails from the macOS app since I've purchased it. I purchased the iOS app and it has been pretty great so far with my G-suite Gmail account.
